We all know that having a home creates a sense of stability, well-being, and independence. It’s our personal space; a place for peace and security, and a gathering point where important relationships are forged and nurtured.
Families leaving city shelters for their own apartments can’t usually experience these simple but important joys because they have little to no furnishings to call their own. That is, unless they come to Furniture Sharehouse, the only program in Westchester County that provides formerly homeless families leaving city shelters, victims of floods, etc. with furniture and household goods for free. Furniture Sharehouse clients, most of whom are transitioning out of the Westchester Shelter system, select furniture and household goods from a warehouse full of new and nearly new items donated by corporate and private folks.
Some items needed most: sofas, case goods- dressers, dining tables and chairs, rugs, small household appliances, lamps, Furniture Sharehouse is always in need of new or gently-used furnishings for newly housed families. Furniture Sharehouse staff will work with you to pick up your donated items or assist you with drop off at their White Plains warehouse.
